Our Weight Management Clinic applies the National Medical Weight Loss Programme (NMWLP) to aid weight management. Dr Tayo, our weight loss specialist and a qualified GP & Prescribing Nurse, Annmaire, oversees patient assessments and treatments as part of the programme.

The National Medical Weight Loss Programme aims to help you lose weight using the following techniques:

  • Control of appetite
  • Curbing hunger
  • Suppressing food cravings
  • Reducing portion sizes
  • Releasing fat already stored in the body
  • Managing weight
  • Developing positive habits

The first step in joining our Weight Management Clinic is to contact us using the enquiry form on this page. Dr Tayo & Nurse Annmaire will then be able to assess – by an initial In-Clinic or Remote Video Consultation – whether this treatment is suitable for you, and will answer any questions you may have. We will then create a bespoke weight loss plan tailored for your body type, age and other aspects of your physiology.

Your plan may include the administration of injections of a weight loss medication such as Wegovy or Mounjaro which are licensed for use in weight management, and have passed numerous clinical trials for safety.

Your body naturally produces a hormone GLP-1, to regulate appetite and food intake – this is what makes you feel full, and thus less inclined to eat again. The injections mimic the action of this hormone to achieve the same effect, aiding your efforts to decrease calorific intake and thus to manage your weight effectively.

Weight loss injections can be used, alongside diet and exercise, to help adults aged between 18 and 75 who have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher. The injections may also be available for people with a BMI of 27 or more, in cases where there are other weight-related health issues present. These issues may include cases of high blood pressure, lipids (abnormal fat levels in your blood), or obstructive sleep apnoea (breathing problems during sleep).

Our weight management service may also include IV Nutrition Therapy, specifically our Fat Burner Plus therapy. For certain patients we may also include the Metabolic Syndrome Extended + Thyroid blood test package.

To begin your journey, please contact us using the enquiry form on this page. We will then contact you to assess if you are a suitable candidate for this treatment

    Frequently Asked Questions

The National Medical Weight Loss Programme is not suitable for all people. The programme is not suitable for people who:

    • are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or who are breast feeding
    • are taking medications related to diabetes
    • have inflammatory bowel disease
    • have a history of thyroid cancer
    • have a history of pancreatitis
    • have experienced severe heart failure
    • have severe kidney disease

None of the activities in the Weight Loss Programme should cause pain. There may be a slight discomfort if you are making use of the weight loss injections, but no more than a normal injection.

Everyone’s journey will be different, in terms of how much weight they need to lose and how long they may wish to remain on the medication/treatment. Results obviously vary from person to person and often depend on the amount of weight you are looking to lose. However, because you feel full and have a satisfied appetite you are substantially reducing your calories and sugar, so we expect great results.

The most common side effects of weight loss injections include nausea, indigestion, constipation or diarrhoea, although these usually go away within a few days of the treatment. We’ll be very happy to discuss these side effects with you at any time.

We strongly urge our patients to use this treatment to help support and adopt a healthier lifestyle so you are not solely depending on the medication.

As with all drugs, weight management injections can cause side effects. The most common are feeling or being sick, nausea or diarrhoea. Rarer, but more serious problems include gall bladder disease, inflammation of the pancreas and kidney issues.

Dr Tayo can advise you on adopting healthier habits with your diet, such as portion control, and provide nutritional advice (including adopting a keto-style diet, etc) which, in tandem, will support your overall well-being.

Dr Tayo does strongly promote regular physical movement and exercise. Should you wish to acquire an exercise plan we would recommend getting in touch with a qualified personal trainer to help meet your fitness goals and targets.

The wright loss injections are supplied in ‘Pens’ of 18mg each, with a usual starting dose of 0.6mg per day for the first 7 days. At this point the effectiveness of the dose in suppressing your appetite or cravings will be assessed, after which the dose may either be maintained or increased if necessary.

If deemed necessary, the dosage will increase to 1.2mg per day for a week before a further reassessment.
The dose can be increased further each week in increments of 0.6mg, up to a maximum dosage of 3.0mg per week.
